Richmond Young Writers

Come, all writers of legends, myths, and fairytales! Bring your basilisks! Your heartbreak! Your sentient staplers! Fantastical tales and faux-histories of all kinds will emerge here, in short story and poem form. Like our popular Picture Book Project, Book of Legends is an 8-week intensive dreaming, writing, and editing experience in which stories find their fullest expression. 

After the workshop ends, all stories will be pulled together into book form, professionally illustrated, and published by Richmond Young Writers Press in the fall. Participants will receive a copy of the collected works - a real, honest-to-goodness published book to hold in their hands. They’ll also have the opportunity to participate in events to show off their new book, which will be sold via the RYW website. Legendary stuff!
