Originally created by Jim Simmerman in The Practice of Poetry, Twenty Little Poetry Projects is an exercise that requires participants to create a 20-line poem. Each line has a specific direction and/or purpose and can be arranged in any order, besides the opening and closing lines. The exercise is challenging, and the final product is not limited to just fulfilling the lines - it can be anything you want it to be! Even if you only create a few lines that you fall in love with, it can lead to future pieces with no limits.
