Collaging & Writing [ages 9-15]
Collaging & Writing! (ages 9-15) - April 16, 2024
Ever had the sudden urge to tear a page out of a book you're reading? Rip into into a dozen pieces?
In this workshop, students will make collages using tearings from books, magazines, and newspapers. Students can embellish their creations with paints, markers, glitters, glues, etc. As a group, we will practice using descriptive imagery to capture the “essence” of each piece. Is it chaotic? Surprisingly orderly, regardless of the scrappy technique? How do the random images connect to each other? What story can we pull from this mismatched creation?
Re-inspired by their own art, students will use the "essence" of their collage to craft poems or short stories. This workshop is perfect for those who feel comfortable with either art or writing and want to branch out to the other! Each student will get to take their collage home, as well as the unique writing that goes with it.
